Amazonite and Amethyst

This month at PT Massage, Hawaiian Magpie is featuring

and some Amethyst

and a little Ametrine .

I fell in love with Amazonite when I found this stone in Antigua, Guatemala, back in April.

The richness of the purple and blue together are irresistible to me.

Like a robins egg. Do you remember the color? That tiny, fragile half of a shell you'd find on the sidewalk in late spring; you'd pick it up knowing that somewhere above you a new little robin had started it's life.

 There are some whimsical pendants.

 Some minimalistic bracelets.

Intricately handcrafted earrings

 to mix

and match

Simple.

Elegant.

Unique signature pieces waiting for you to come adopt them.

Custom Clasp

I had a particularly lovely little custom order to do this week.

Linda Weiland is an amazing woman who was recently elected as the president for the Honolulu chapter of
Zonta; a womens advocacy group. You can check out her blog here.

Linda got some fabulous pearls from an estate sale several years ago, but sadly the clasp just wasn't up to snuff. I built a delicate little gold S shaped clasp right onto the necklace.

Linda hand picked 3 beautiful pieces of green amazonite which I made into matching earrings and pendant, with a bail large enough to slip over her wonderful pearls.

Arrowhead

I had an interesting project recently: an arrowhead pendant.

T went to Colorado, and while there found a genuine Native American artifact: a broken arrowhead.

She brought it back to Honolulu and asked me to wrap it for her. Not your usual pendant, eh?

My friend Lourdes

took one look at this Amazonite pendant while I was in the middle of putting it together and had to have it.

It looks beautiful on you, Lulu!

The Lady Will Have Labradorite

I had a really fun project to work on this week.

A friend of mine, TS, went to Kauai recently with her little girl, B.While they were there, they stopped by a rock shop where B picked out a special stone; a lovely little soft piece of yellow labradorite.

They brought it back to Honolulu where TS asked me to fashion it into a pendant for B to wear, a special little heirloom mother to daughter love gift.

Because B is so little still, we made the chain adjustable.

B loves it, she kept calling it her "princess necklace"

June Jewelry at PT Massage

This month at PT Massage, Hawaiian Magpie is featuring serpentine and smoky quartz.

The serpentine is especially interesting to me, I picked it up in an open market in Santiago when I was in Guatemala in April on my honeymoon.

Serpentine ranges in color, from a yellowy to blueish green, sometimes with streaks of yellow, red, white and black.

Although it is mostly associated with the heart chakra, it is also a very good grounding stone. It is a great stone to use as a focus while meditating. One of the most interesting things that I've read about serpentine is that it helps to expel parasites.

Is that crazy or what? Have you had any interesting experiences with serpentine? Leave me a comment about it!

Chrysocolla

This month at PT Massage, Hawaiian Magpie is featuring a stone called Chrysocolla.

Chrysocolla is a beautiful blue-green color, with a soft almost opalescent sheen. It is only made into jewelry when it is mixed with Quartz, because alone it is much to soft (somewhere between 2 and 4 on the Mohs scale). It is associated with the throat chakra and all ailments that go along with that area, but is most commonly used as a reminder to think before you speak, to speak the truth and to refrain from speaking inappropriately.

Garnet with Love

I got this sweet note from Denise a couple of days after she picked up her custom bracelet explaining why she chose garnet.

Thanks Denise!

I recently had a garnet bracelet made for me by Anna Buchert and I am overwhelmed with its beauty and significance. I chose garnet because of its physical healing and metaphysical properties, and because I love the stone and its deep red colors. What surprised me is how much of Anna's energy and love I feel when I look at and wear this bracelet! Having a piece of jewelry made specifically for me, and knowing how much detailed and painstakingly loving work Anna put into this just for me, makes this so much more significant than any other jewelry I own.

There are a number of reasons I selected garnet. I have been experiencing a particularly toxic and hostile work environment for some time now and I crave having positive and uplifting experiences touch me throughout my day. Garnet is noted for its powerful protective energy, and had been carried by ancient soldiers and worn by the Crusaders. While I start each work day with a prayer for God's protective shield of armor around me, I find that looking at my beautiful garnet bracelet during my day refreshes in me a sense of safety and purpose. Additionally, I am aware that garnet is considered to be motivating and increases productivity and is very good for career success. I would like to advance my career, hopefully in a more supportive environment and am using this bracelet as a reminder of that goal.
